When one is painting one does not think. Raphael

Time is a vindictive bandit to steal the beauty of our former selves. Raphael

Bearing in mind the divine quality of the ancients’ minds as revealed in the remains still to be seen among the ruins of Rome, I do not find it unreasonable to believe that much of what we consider impossible seemed, to them, exceedingly simple. Raphael

Art Quotes About Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino

Perhaps we shall one day find that Rembrandt is a greater painter than Raphael. I write down this blasphemy which will cause the hair of the school-men to stand on end without taking sides. Eugène Delacroix Quotes

Suffice to say I came to the conclusion that Raphael is the greatest master of them all. I had just visited several rooms within the gallery when I found myself standing in front of a painting which aroused in me an admiration far more intense than that normally inspired by the art of painting. It showed the Virgin, sitting among the clouds, holding the infant Jesus in her arms. Her face is so beautiful and so noble that it is worthy of the divine brush that painted it. Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun Quotes

I have suddenly become a traveler, and I am afflicted with a fever for seeing Raphael’s. So I am in the process of swallowing up Italy. Pierre-Auguste Renoir Quotes
