Oscar Wilde was a famous Irish writer, poet, playwright, novelist and convicted criminal. He is best known for his quotable quotes or epigrams and for writing The Picture of Dorian Gray novel. Famous Oscar Wilde publications include “The Critic as Artist”, “The Decay of Lying”, “The Duchess of Padua”, “The Soul of Man Under Socialism”, “An Ideal Husband”, “The Importance of Being Earnest”, and “The Picture of Dorian Gray”.

Mini biography: Born Oscar Fingal O’Flahertie Wills Wilde on the 16th of October, 1854 in Dublin, Ireland. His mother was Jane Elgee and his father William Robert Wills Wilde was an ophthalmologic surgeon. Wilde married Constance Lloyd in 1884 and they had two children: Cyril and Vyvyan Holland. Wilde was also gay and had a relationship with the son of the Marquess of Queensberry, Alfred Douglas. A conflict with John Sholto Douglas, 9th Marquess of Queensberry led to Oscar Wilde spending two years in prison for sodomy and gross indecency. The writer died on the 30th of November, 1900 in Paris, France at the age of 46. Oscar Wilde is buried at the Père Lachaise Cemetery, Paris, France.
