So, I have been grouping the artists that I list into all sorts of interesting categories. They can be seen at the bottom of each artist profile that has been listed, in the categories and tags. But I thought I should group them together on one page. On this post I plan to add all of the famous artists listed on ArtQuotes.net categorized by the month they were born.

I’ve also been taking note of their birthdays, how old they were when they died, what year they died, and even their astrological signs! I’m not sure if anyone else will find these things interesting but I do.

For example, what famous artists were born on your birthday? Jackson Pollock was born on the same day as me. And although I’ve only added a small number of artists so far, there are four of them who died at the age of 83! And what do Andy Warhol, Bernard Buffet and Cy Twombly all have in common? My first reply would be “nothing” as they’re all so very different, but they were all born in 1928.

• Artists born in April – Artists like the Australian painter Brett Whiteley and American artist Cy Twombly were born in April.
• Artists born in May – Those born in May include the American abstract painter Franz Kline and the British woman artist Jenny Saville.
• Artists born in June – Artists born in June include the Australian artist and colorist Ken Done and the famous British artist Damien Hirst.
• Artists born in July – The famous French painters Bernard Buffet and Jean Dubuffet were both born in the month of July.
• Artists born in August – The king of Pop (Andy Warhol) was born in the month of April, along with South African reggae singer Lucky Dube.
• Artists born in September – Famous artists born in the month of September include the Latvian born Abstract Expressionist artist Mark Rothko.
• Artists born in October – Lee Krasner and the great modern artist and painter Pablo Picasso were both born in the month of October.
• Artists born November – Notable artists born in November include the American artists Georgia O’Keeffe and James Rosenquist.
• Artists born in December – Famous artists born in the month of December include the French master Henri Matisse and the American artist Jean Michel Basquiat.
