She is best known for her paintings of domestic scenes and portraits of women and children. Mini biography: Born Mary Stevenson Cassatt on the 22nd of May, 1844 in Allegheny City, Pennsylvania, United States of America. Her mother was Katherine Kelso Johnston and her father Robert Simpson Cassat was an investor and stockbroker. The artist died on the 14th of June, 1926 in Château de Beaufresne, France at the age of 82. Cassatt is buried at the Le Mesnil Theribus Cimetière, Le Mesnil-Theribus, Departement de l’Oise, Picardie, France.
