Karl Schmidt-Rottluff was a famous German painter and printmaker associated with Die Brücke (The Bridge) group and the Expressionist art movement. He is best known for his raw landscapes and portraits. Mini biography: Born Karl Schmidt on the 1st of December, 1884 in Rottluff (Chemnitz), Germany. Schmidt-Rottluff married Emy Frisch in 1918. The artist died on the 10th of August, 1976 in West Berlin, West Germany at the age of 91. Karl Schmidt-Rottluff is buried at the Waldfriedhof Dahlem, Berlin, Germany.
