Gustav Klimt was a famous Austrian Symbolist artist, draftsman and painter involved in the Vienna Secession art movement which was a cousin of Art Nouveau. He is best known for his nudes and portraits, especially his highly decorative gold leaf female portraits of high-society women. Mini biography: Born Gustav Klimt on the 14th of July, 1862 in Baumgarten, Austria. His mother was Anna Klimt Finster and his father Ernst Klimt the Elder was a gold engraver. Klimt never married but his life partner was Emilie Louise Flöge. It is said that the artist had up to fourteen children with various lovers. The artist died on the 6th of January, 1918 in Vienna, Austria at the age of 55. Klimt is buried at the Hietzing Cemetery, Vienna, Austria.
