Edvard Munch was a famous Norwegian painter and printmaker associated with the Expressionist and Post-Impressionist art movements. He is best known for his iconic Scream painting that has been reproduced countless times and continues to be used and referenced in popular culture today. Famous Edvard Munch artworks include “Weeping Nude”, “Starry Night”, “Train Smoke”, “Death of Marat I”, “Anxiety”, “The Dance of Life”, “Ashes”, “Self-Portrait with Cigarette”, “Puberty”, “Madonna”, “The Scream” and “Melancholy”.

Mini biography: Born Edvard Munch on the 12th of December, 1863 in Ådalsbruk, Løten, Sweden–Norway. His mother was Laura Catherine Bjølstad and his father Christian Munch was a priest. Munch never married nor had any children. The artist died on the 23rd of January, 1944 in Oslo, Norway at the age of 80. Edvard Munch is buried at the Our Savior’s Cemetery (Vår Frelsers Gravlund), Oslo, Norway.
