About the Self Portrait Painting
Andy Warhol painted his own image on many
occasions throughout his entire career as
an artist. They were part of his self promotional
nature that made his deadpan face and trademark
white wig as famous as many of the celebrities
he painted.
He was also carrying on a tradition of self
portrait painting that artists like Rembrandt
and Vincent
van Gogh had pursued before him.
Warhol often just changed the colors he used
for a portrait to create more of them. See
