Reminiscent of his much more successful and much more famous painting La Promenade or Woman with a Parasol, Monet captures Suzanne Hoschede, the daughter of his mistress Alice Hoschede. It's one of two new versions of the old composition which worked so well when his late wife Camille modelled for him ten years earlier.
