+ For me it's also a craft. It's not something
that drops out of the sky. It's not something
where you sit at your picture window and watch
the sun glistening off the trees and a deer walks
by and whispers in your ear. It's really a craft,
and it's hard work. It's just a lot of discipline,
and hopefully, you get better with each project.
+ I've become more comfortable, knowing that I
can sleep until two and hang out until ten in
the morning and don't have to worry about losing
my job. But I'm not a big star. I'm not even a
twinkle.. I'm just a rumour.
+ All a record company is is a bank, and they
loan you a little money to make a record and then
they own you for the rest of your life. You don't
even own your own work.
+ Most of the people I admire, they usually smell
funny and don't get out much. It's true. Most
of them are either dead or not feeling well.
+ I started writing down people's conversations
as they sat around the bar. When I put them together
I found some music hiding in there.
+ The piano has been drinking, not me, not me.
