Artist Statement
I will quote Flaubert from the novel,
Madame Bovary: "
.as if
the fullness of the soul did not sometimes
overflow in the emptiest metaphors, since
no one can ever quite give the exact measure
of his needs , nor of his sorrows; and
since human speech is like a cracked tin
kettle on which we hammer tunes to make
bears dance when we long to move the stars."
My work is an effort to reach out and
into people, my words may only be fit
to make the bears dance.

Brief Biography
Life, my life, that belongs to me alone,
started in NYC when I began studying art.
Previously, I had had a short career as
a song lyricist working with jazz and
rock musicians. I had some success but
it was not what I wanted to do.
Fortunately for me, one of my art teachers
encouraged me to enter shows right away,
so my career and resume were beginning
along with my studies. I continued studying
and working as a professional artist when
I moved back down south to Virginia, where
I grew up. And, where I longed to be because
"southern light" is what I crave.
I recently was able to build my own studio
which I am just starting to get used to
using.
